Zipper Needle Felted Art Pendant with Shrink Plastic Charm
We will be making a pendant using zippers and roving. The zipper is hand sewn on to wool felt making an outline of a design. The inside is then filled in with wool roving using the technique of needle felting. Then beads and other embellishmnets are added. The pendant is finished with a bead embroidery edging.
The charm will be made of shrink plastic with various beads and metal pieces. The process of decorating the plastic piece with colored pencils and melting into a mold to achieve the bead cap shape will be explained. It is assembled into a charm and attached to the pendant with the beading edging.
This class is open to all skill levels. If you can thread a needle, you can do this art form; however, very sharp needles are used so it is preferable if students are at least 12 years of age. Needle felting and beading experience are a plus, but not a prerequisite for this class.
All materials are provided by the instructor.
