Copper Tree of Life Pendant -- Sunday 10:15 am - 2:15 pm

Students will learn how to create this beautiful Tree of Life and attach it to a focal stone. Skills learned will include the basics of working with wire, how to “sculpt” the tree using regular round wire, how to attach a stone to a frame, how weave a bail using a basic weave pattern and how to patina and polish copper.

Prerequisites Needed: While this can be considered a beginner class, some previous knowledge of working with wire will be beneficial but not required
Tools &/or Supplies Students Must Bring: None, but you may bring your own tools if you have them.
Tools Supplied: Chain nose pliers, flush cutters, round nosed pliers, a selection of stones and copper wire as well as materials for patina. Copper ball chain will be provided at no cost but the instructor will have handmade chains available for purchase during class.
In the class, you will make a broach/wall art using a zipper which is sewn onto the wool felt backing material. The zipper becomes the outline. Wool roving is then needle felted. Then embellishments are added.

We will work with a variety of vintage fabrics, lace and bead embellishments. We will learn 5 embroidery stitches along with some fabric dyeing techniques using alcohol inks. Several design and style options will be available: mini prayer flags, round pendants and rectangles.
